LAN (Local Area Network):  A network that allows multiple computers (or other capable devices) to connect with each other in a small area of promixity.  Such a network is commonly used in house holds, schools, restaurant establishments, and office buildings. 



WAN (Wide Area Network):  A network that allows for communication/connection of multiple sources (computers or other capable devices) over a large area of proximity.  Such a network is commonly used for businesses giving employees data accessibility from anywhere they could access the network.



Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity):  A technology that gives computers and other capable devices the ability to connect to the internet and partake within activities that involve wireless data transfers.  In order to connect to Wi-Fi the respective device must connect through an available wireless access point.
