What is LinkedIn?
LinkedIn is a business-oriented social networking site. It is the world's largest professional network with over 85 million members in over 200 countries.
LinkedIn allows you to create a profile that shows your professional accomplishments and expertise. After creating your profile, you can then form connections by allowing contacts that you trust to connect to you. Everyone's network/profile consists of your connections, your connections' connections, and the people they know. This allows you to be connected to an enormous amount of qualified experts and professionals. With your trusted contacts and network of professionals you can exchange knowledge, ideas, and opportunities.
Through your network you can also post and distribute job listings, create and collaborate on projects, share files, and gather data.
LinkedIn also allows you to control your online identity. After creating your profile, you'll find that when you search for yourself in Google, your LinkedIn profile will be the first link on the top to pop up, so your LinkedIn profile is the first impression people get when they search for your name.
